Subtletly is Overrated

There’s an ad for Budweiser in the new issue of Sports Illustrated. Thusly:

Budweiser is American, damn it.
Budweiser is American, damn it.

Just to remind the average American beer drinker that Belgian ownership of Anheuser-Busch means absolutely nothing, the ad features the word “American” or “America” no fewer than 10 times. You know, just to remind people that the beer itself is still American. Even though drinking that beer is effectively financing the hedonistic lifestyle of our Belgian overlords.
