Students at BYU recently released their own video for the It Gets Better Project.
This one struck a particular chord with me. While I’m not Mormon, I do know how it feels to be caught between your faith and your heart. When you’re shunned by the very people who are supposed to love you unconditionally (if the greatest commandment really is “Love God and love your neighbor as yourself”), the loneliness can be isolating, damaging even. When your community tells you you don’t belong, who are you supposed to turn to?
I know it’s overused, but I wonder what Jesus would have done. His record of hanging out with outcasts seems to contradict what today’s Christians practice.
