Deep Thought of the Day: Olympics Edition

The fact that all of our medalists (so far) represent so many different racial and ethnic groups is a stunning testament to our diversity as a nation.

And the fact that we choose to be united under one flag–not because of a common race, ethnic group, religion, political affiliation, or sexual orientation but because of a common love for this country–cannot be lost on us.

We cannot afford to lose sight of the fact that our diversity is what makes America great, especially at a time when people are trying to divide us, compartmentalize us, and demonize our differences for political gain.

We are America, all of us.

And if a ragtag bunch of athletes who look, sound, love, and believe differently can show the world that they can be united as one, so can we.
